While visiting New Zealand we were going to walk the circuit trail, but the weather was too unforgiving. But when we traveled north to Auckland and were returning to Wellington a few days later, we had a beautiful view of Mount Ngauruhoe, the volcano, from far away.

The Remarkables are beautiful mountains in New Zealand‘s South Island, right next to Queensland. Lake Alta is quite an easy hike from the upper station of the ski lift, you get there by gravel road.
