Havana, Cuba. Among peculiar graves at Christopher Columbus Cemetery is the one of Rinti the dog. After Jeanette Ryder (Rinti’s owner) died, he curled up at the foot of her grave and refused to eat. Rinti died and was buried at the feet of Jeanette’s grave.
Camaguey, the UNESCO listed treasure of Cuba. It isn’t as popular as Havana or Trinidad, but it’s a real pearl of colonial architecture.
Christopher Columbus Cemetery (Necropolis Cristobal Colon in Spanish) is somewhat laid back just like all of Cuba is. Huge and beautiful, it is almost devoid of people. Sometimes you can see a forgotten piece of bone lying in the grass next to the sidewalk. It is later picked up by an attendant and dropped into a “dropped bones repository” – concrete box containing random bones found here and there around the necropolis.
Trinidad is one of the most beautiful colonial towns I’ve ever visited. Colorful and laid back.
